Type locality: Mt. Mang, China. “Mangshan Forestry Bureau, Yizhang County, Hunan, China, 480 m elevation” fide Zhao 2004 (who gives Mt. Mang only for the paratypes).  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: CIB 80029 (originally MFB 9339), adult male (Y.-H. Chen). Paratypes: MFB 
Diagnosis 
CommentHabitat: aquatic, inhabiting flowing streams.

Diet: fishes, frogs, tadpoles, freshwater shrimp and earthworms.

Behavior: nocturnal

Synonymy: This species is probably a synonym of Opisthotropis latouchii fide Li et al. 2020. 
EtymologyNamed after Chen Yuan-Hui, a staff member of the National Mt. Mang Forestry Park, and collector of the holotype.
