Comment | Synonymy: Pristurus longipes PETERS 1871 has been treated as synonym of Pristurus crucifer, e.g. by LOVERIDGE 1947 and WERMUTH 1965. According to Schätti and Desvoignes (1999), the taxonomic status of P. longipes (Peters, 1871) is not yet clear. The original description compared it only with P. flavipunctatus, and Boulenger (1885) synonymized it with P. crucifer (see also Parker, 1932; Loveridge, 1947). Bauer and Günther (1991) resurrected P. longipes as a full species. It differs from P. schneideri by its larger size and also by its colour pattern which is also typical for P. crucifer: a light vertebral stripe with lateral processes that branch off alternately. |
