TypesHolotype: BMNH 1963.675 (male), listed as Pristurus carteri non-type in BMNH as of March 2019; Paratypes: BMNH, MF 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: The smallest member of the Pristurus carteri group (only up to about 41 mm from snout to vent); snout short and rounded; mental not markedly shorter than rostral and lips not turned down- wards anteriorly; axillary mite pockets often large, scattered enlarged scales usually present on flanks; 6-8(9) lamellae present under first hind toe, 13-15 beneath fourth. Tail more than 90% of snout- vent distance in males, the tip pointed, its dorsal crest rather heterogeneous being made up of large and small scales; autotomy and regeneration not confined to the base. Often quite large grey spots at sides of throat; a strong dark collar present across throat in males and most females; usually seven dark areas, which may be divided, on back from neck to vent, one of these at level of forelimbs and four between the two pairs of limbs. Supraoccipital area of skull sloping forwards (ARNOLD 1986).
