Mimicry: This species mimics the sympatric Micrurus alleni and M. nigrocinctus

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Carl Erik Alexander BovaIIius (or BowaIIius) (1849-1907), Associate Professor of Zoology at Uppsala University. He primarily worked on crustaceans.
