CommentType species: Salea horsfieldii GRAY 1845 is the type species of the genus Salea GRAY 1845.

Distribution: Has been erroneously reported from Sri Lanka, but not present there (SOMAWEERA & SOMAWEERA 2009). 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Thomas Horsfield (1773-1859), an American naturalist and physician who worked in Java, among other places.
