Type locality: Balsapamba, Provincia Bolívar, Ecuador, elevation 750 m. Known only from the type locality.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: TORRES-CARVAJAL 2007. 
CommentOriginally described as Liocephalus formosus by BOULENGER 1880: 43. Replacement of the name was necessary because L. formosus became a junior secondary homonym of Scelotrema formosum when both taxa were combined into Stenocercus (fide FRITTS 1974 and TORRES-CARVAJAL 2000).

Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Richard Haensch, a German collector and dealer, mainly of butterflies, working in South America.
