Subspecies
Common NamesE: Spacious Rock Gecko, Banded Ground Gecko
SynonymBunopus spatalurus hajarensis ARNOLD 1980: 277
Bunopus spatalurus hajarensis — LEPTIEN 1991
Bunopus spatalurus hajarensis — SZCZERBAK & GOLUBEV 1996: 97

Trachydactylus hajarensis — POUS et al. 2015
Trachydactylus hajarensis — BURRIEL-CARRANZA et al. 2023
DistributionN-Oman, United Arab Emirates.

Type locality: Wadi Ham, Masafi, [Hajar mountains] UAE (25° 18.5’ N, 56° 10’ E).
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022)
TypesHolotype: BMNH 2008.714
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Differs from B. s. spatalums in its smaller size (up to 50 mm from snout to vent compared with up to at least 67 mm) and strongly keeled dorsal scales (Arnold 1980).
CommentDistribution: for map see Pous et al. 2015. See map in Burriel-Carranza et al. 2019 for map in UAE, and Burriel-Carranza et al. 2023 for the whole range.

Phylogenomics: Burriel-Carranza et al. 2023 found that T. hajarensis is comprised by three well-defined population lineages which some species delimitation models suggested to be up to 4 species while others suggested only 1 species. These authors, however, suggest to maintain hajarensis as 1 species for the time being.
EtymologyNamed after the type locality.
