Type locality: Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary, Nong Kai Province, E Thailand (18° 05’ N, 103° 45’ E, 200 m elevation).

TypesHolotype: THNHM 05830 (adult male); was: TNHM R-60001 (KUZ R40362); Paratypes: THNHM 05826–28 (adult females); THNHM 05829 (adult male). 
Diagnosis 
CommentAbundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after the Latin words, latus (broad) and scutum (scale), referring to the distinctly widened paravertebral scales characteristic of this species.
