Comment | Mabuya spinalis was removed from synonymy with M. stangeri by JOGER 1993. It remains unclear where the name Mabuya stanjorgeri in FRANK & RAMUS (199) comes from. Maybe a typo. We could not find the name anywhere else, e.g. it is not listed in BOULENGER 1887, Cat. Liz. |
Etymology | Named after Dr. William Stanger (1811-1854), a physician, geologist, and explorer. He took part in the Niger expedition (1841), which used three ships to sail up the Niger River. |
