Type locality: desertified agricultural area 4 km N of Moruy (11°51'30"N, 69°58'W), Peninsulade Paraguana, Estado Falcon, Venezuela.

TypesHolotype: MCNG 1402 (field number and frozen tissue number ALM 5983), an adult male collected on 22 July 1993 by Allan L. Markezich.

EtymologyThe specific appellation is a noun in apposition, meaning" wanderer of the sand." It refers to the typical duneland or desert scrub habitat of this species.
