DistributionMalaysian Peninsula (Perak/Larut Hills; Pahang, 1500-1700 m elevation)

Type locality: Larut Hills, under a house, at 3500 feet elevation, Perak [West Malaysia]
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: BMNH 1901.3.20.2.
DiagnosisAdditional details, e.g. a detailed description or comparisons (257 characters), are available for collaborators and contributors. Please contact us for details.
CommentVariation: H. larutensis is fairly variable (see photos in CHAN-ARD et al. 1999).

Synonymy: Hemiphyllodactylus larutensis has been considered as a synonym of H. harteri. The two species have often been confused in the literature (see GRISMER et al. 2013 for a discussion). The colour photograph of the unicoloured specimen in Zug (2010: fig. 11c) from Bukit Larut labelled as H. harterti is actually H. larutensis.

Behavior: nocturnal

Distribution: see map in Grismer et al. 2015 (Fig. 1C).
EtymologyNamed after the type locality.
