Type locality: “Travancore Hills”, S Western Ghats, south of Palghat, Kerala, SW India (10° 46’ N, 76° 39’ E) [locality of neotype].

TypesLectotype: BMNH 1946.8.17.68, designated by Eremchenko & Das (2004); Syntypes formerly BMNH 1946.8.17.68-70. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: This species differs congeneric species of Kaestlea in the number of scales round neck (26), midbody (20-21/ mean 20.5) and abdominal scales (32-36). It differs from Kaestlea travancorica and K. palnica in having completely divided frontoparietals. (Eremchenko & Das 2004)

CommentOUBOTER (1986) considered this species as synonym of Scincella bilineata. 
EtymologyNamed after Richard Henry Beddome, 1830–1911, British army officer and botanist.
