CommentBOULENGER 1887 synonymized Lophocalotes interruptus with Calotes Luedekingi. The holotype of Lophocalotes interruptus and Calotes ludenkingii is the same specimen and is deposited in BMNH (J. Hallermann, pers. comm.).

Type species: Lophocalotes interruptus GÜNTHER 1872 is the type species of the genus Lophocalotes GÜNTHER 1872. 
EtymologyNamed in honor of the Dutch physician E.W.A. Lüdeking a collector for the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden.
