Type locality: 16 mi. N Trincomalee near shore, on small hillock at an elevation of about 10 m.

CommentAbundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Professor Paulus Edward Peiris Deraniyagala (1900-1976), a scientist and zoologist who was Director ofall National Museums, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) (1939-1963).
