CommentSynonymy: Drepanodon erdisii has been synonymized with O. doliatus by BAILEY (1970) but revalidated by ZAHER & CARAMASCHI (2000).

Distribution: Not in Peru where it is represented by O. erdisii. Type locality given as “very probably from Brazil” (but not reported from there) 
EtymologyNamed after Greek dolion (δόλιον), barrel or Latin dolion, large earthenware vessel. [“...Cet Oxyrhope est le seul de ceux qui ont des bandes noires en travers du corps, chez lequel elles forment, pour la plupart, des anneaux complets, ou à peine ouverts à la face ventrale...].
