Type locality: Nouvelle Hollande  
Reproductionovovivparous. There is evidence for maternal-fetal transfer of nutrients in this species (Blackburn 1994).<br><br>Hybridization: Pseudemoia cryodroma, P. entrecasteauxii and P. pagenstecheri hybridise (Haines et al. 2016). 
TypesLectotype: MNHN-RA 2473A, and paralectotype: MNHN-RA 2473 (designated by Hutchinson & Donnellan 1992).
Syntype: RMNH 2479 (Kangaroo Is.); whereabouts of remaining syntypes unknown, from Kangaroo Is., S. A. (original description cites Australia), see also Ctenotus taeniolatus (White, 1790) [Scincus undecimstriatus].
Lectotype: BMNH 1946.8.16.21, from Tas., designated by Rawlinson (in prep. fide COGGER 1983). Paralectotype: BMNH 1946.8.16.22 see under Leiolopisma metallicum [Mocoa pseudocarinata].
Syntypes: ZMB 9508 (2 specimens), from Adelaide, S. A. [Lygosoma (Mocoa) guttulatum]

CommentSynonymy: mostly after HUTCHINSON & DONNELLAN 1992. 
EtymologyNamed after Admiral Antoine Raymond Joseph de Bruni d'Entrecasteaux (1739-1793) of the French navy. He was also Governor of the French colony of Mauritius. He sailed (1791) around Australia and Tasmania (1792-1793) but died of scurvy.
