CommentBehavior: one of only a few scincid lizards that can vocalize.

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024.
EtymologyNamed after Rev. Jean-Baptiste Poncelet (1884-1958), who headed the Catholic Mission at Buin, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, in the 1930s. He also collected natural history specimens for V. Danis, who worked at Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris.
