CommentSubspecies: Phelsuma lineata leiogaster MERTENS 1973 has been synonymized with P. lineata by KLUGE 1993 but is listed here as a subspecies of P. modesta. Phelsuma lineata dorsivittata MERTENS 1964 has been elevated to full species status. Phelsuma lineata punctulata MERTENS 1970 has been elevated to full species.

Species grup: Member of the Phelsuma lineata (phenetic) group (GLAW, VENCES & ZIEGLER 1999).

Synonymy and subspecies originally after WERMUTH 1965. Recently, chloroscelis and bifasciata have been suggested to be synonyms of P. lineata (Hallmann, cited in ANDERS 2008).
