Type locality: Cerro Tablón de las Minas near La Pastoría, Jalapa, Guatemala

Habitat: dry oak forest  
Reproductionovovivparous 
TypesHolotype: UTA R-32000 
Diagnosis 
CommentMember of the subgenus Auriculabronia and most similar to A. aurita and A. anzuetoi.

Conservation: threatened, close to extinction.

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Jonathan A. Campbell (13 May 1947-), American herpetologist.
