|Diagnosis||Diagnosis: The two species of the A. lepidogaster complex differ in the size of the diastema between crests, which is almost absent in A. coronata; this was indicated by Boulenger (1885), who accepted the validity of this species. In addition, the species differ in the length of the postorbital spines and the relative tail length (Tables 3, 4 in ANANJEVA et al. 2008). An important diagnostic character is the condition of the rostral scute: being undivided in A. lepidogaster and some other species of the genus, it is divided into two or three small scutes in A. coronata [from ANANJEVA et al. 2008].|
|Comment||Synonymy: partly after Hallermann 2000; SMITH (1935) synonymized A. coronata with A. lepidogaster. However, STUART et al. (2006) and ANANJEVA et al. (2008) state that A. coronata should be removed from the synonymy of A lepidogaster because both species are morphologically distinct.|
