Diagnosis 
CommentLimb morphology: Limbless.

Subspecies: Pietersen et al. 2018 elevated Acontias aurantiacus fitzsimonsi and A a. parietalis to full species but did not comment on the status of bazarutoensis or carolinensis. 
EtymologyProbably named after the color of some specimens in this species, from the Latin adjective aurantiacus meaning the color saffron, golden, or orange.

Etymology (bazarutoensis): named after the type locality.
