Types	Holotype: Museo Civico di Storia Naturale, Milano.
Comment	Reports from Reunion are probably erroneous (WALLACH & GLAW 2009). Average length 1.25 to 1.45 m, max. up to 2.5 (maybe 3) m (HUFF 1984, WENGLER 1996). Type species: Acrantophis dumerili JAN 1860 is the type species of the genus Acrantophis JAN 1860.
