DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): Digits short (fig. 16), clawed, cylindrical at the base, and with transverse lamellae below, compressed in the distal phalanges, which are raised; the claw retractile between three large plates forming a compressed sheath. Body with small juxtaposed flat scales; upper and lower eyelids well developed. Pupil vertical. Males with praeanal pores (de Rooij 1915: 26).

CommentA prehensile tail and opposable digits suit the arboreal lifestyle of A. felinus.

Type species: Pentadactylus felinus GÜNTHER 1864 is the type species of the genus Aeluroscalabotes BOULENGER 1885 (nomen novum pro Aelurosaurus BOULENGER 1885); Aelurosaurus BOULENGER is preoccupied by Aelurosaurus OWEN 1881, a dinosaur.
