Comment | Distribution: Records from Madagascar are in error since they refer to Phyllodactylus brevipes. Subspecies: The subspecies described by HEWITT (1935, 1937) have been questioned and synonymized with the “nominate” form (see Bauer et al. 1997). Type species: Gecko porphyreus DAUDIN 1802 is the type species of the genus Afrogecko BAUER, GOOD & BRANCH 1997.
