CommentType species: Agamodon anguliceps is the type species of the genus Agamodon PETERS 1882.

Key: Gans & Pandit 1965 have a key to the species of Agamodon.
EtymologyNamed after angulus (Latin) = angle, a corner; ceps, from caput (Latin) = head; a reference to the chisel-shaped head.

The genus was named after “agama” and odon (Greek) = tooth; the teeth are acrodont like the agamid lizard's teeth; that means they are set on the top of the jaw bone and not on the side, which is known as pleurodont. Genus names ending in -odon are typically masculine.
