Illustration: See color plate 79 in VILLA et al. 1988 and Trutnau 2001.

Distribution: See maps in Trutnau (2001) and Porras et al. 2013. There is only one report from Honduras based on a photograph (Porras et al. 2013). Reported from Costa Rica by Solorzano 2004.

Subspecies: all subspecies have been elevated to species status by PARKINSON et al. (2000) based on mtDNA sequences or PORRAS et al. 2013. The status of A. b. lemosespinali remains uncertain fide PORRAS et al. 2013. Campbell and Lamar (2004: 266) indicated that this taxon “was diagnosed by several characteristics, all of which are within the normal range of variation for A. taylori or might be artifacts in a specimen preserved for more than 30 years.”
EtymologyNamed after Latin “bis” = two, double and Latin linea = line, plus the Latin suffix -atus, meaning provided with; in allusion to the yellow lines, one above the eye and one below, along the side of the head.
