Habitat: marine.

Conservation status: critically endangered

Distribution: see map in Sanders et al. 2015 (Fig. 1).

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyPresumably named after the Greek a- (without) and Latin praefrontalis (prefontal), alluding to the lack of prefrontal scales in this species. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
