Holotype: EEZA (Instituto de Aclimatación de Almería); Paratype: MNCN 7947 [marchi]
Holotype: ZFMK 4541 [Algyroides marchi niethammeri]
Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: Since its description few specimens of A. hidalgoi have been found. It may be an aberrant form of A. marchi although its identity remains unclear (ENGELMANN et al. 1993: 250). Algyroides m. niethammeri was synonymized with typical A. marchi by Palacios et al. (1974). Sánchez-Vialas et al. 2018 re-established the priority of hidalgoi over marchi.

Subspecies: Algyroides marchi niethammeri has blue throats. However, niethammeri was synonymized with the nominate subspecies by Salvador 1998.

Types: the neotype locality is relatively far from the one indicated by Boscá’s. However, Boscá’s locality was probably erroneous or the consequence of accidental transport with plants or other materials to the San Ildefonso Royal Gardens, making it impossible to select a neotype from that locality (Sánchez-Vialas et al. 2018.
