Type locality: “unterer Tarim-Fluss, Zentral-Asien” (fide WERMUTH 1965).

TypesLectotype: ZISP (also as ZIL) 5144, adult male (fide SZCZERBAK & GOLUBEV 1996); Syntype: USNM 69894
Holotype: BMNH 1946.8.20.45 (and possibly additional specimens).

EtymologyNamed after General Nikolai Mikhailovitch Przewalski (1839-1888, spelled Przewalsky by Strauch), a Russian Cossack naturalist who explored Central Asia (Beolens et al. 2009).
