CommentDate of publication: ZHAO & ADLER 1993 discuss the date of publication of Pallas’ work, which is cited with dates ranging from 1811-1831.

Synonymy: Not listed as separate species by ANDERSON 1999, Lizards of Iran who says “Terentjev and Chernov (1949: 131) included northeastern Iran within the distribution of Alsophylax pipiens (which in their view included A. microtus and A. laevis), but I find no documented records for Iran.”

Distribution: Not in Afghanistan fide Wagner et al. 2017.

Type species: Lacerta pipiens PALLAS 1827 is the type species of the genus Alsophylax FITZINGER 1843: 90.
