CommentType species: Phyllodactylus Lesueurii DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1836 is the type species of the genus Amalosia Wells and Wellington, 1984: 75.

The type series of Phyllodactylus Lesueurii Duméril & Bibron 1836 seems to be composite. For further discussion of this and additional references see Bauer 1994.

Oedura jacovae sp. nov. is not conspecific with the lectotypes of O. rhombifer (BMNH xxii.3a) or O. lesueurii (MNHN 268).

Karyotype: 2n = 36 (King 1987)
EtymologyNamed after Charles Alexandre Lesueur (1778-1846), a French naturalist, artist, and explorer who travelled to both Australia and lived in North America (1815-1837).

The genus name Amalosia means tender, soft (Wells & Wellington 1984: 75).
