CommentSynonymy partly after UGUETO & HARVEY 2011 who also suggested that fuliginosa (and tobagana) may be full species.

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin for ‘‘sooty, painted black’’ and likely refers to the ‘‘lead-colored shade’’ and ‘‘lead color’’ mentioned by Cope (1892: 132) for the type series.
