DiagnosisDIAGNOSIS: A small Amphisbaena (rostro-anal length about 110 mm); 4 preanal pores; 31 tail annuli; first supralabial very large; post-symphysial narrow and elongate; first and second infralabials fused. (Vanzolini 1971)

CommentDistribution: map in HOOGMOED & AVILA-PIRES 1991.

Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after G. tragos (τράγος), he-goat + G. rhexis (ῥῆξῐς), rip or tear. (VANZOLINI 1971, Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
