Type locality: Riyum, Plateau de Jos, Nigeria, 1200 m elevation.  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: ZMUC 34390, male; paratype MHNG 2236.15, male; paratypes (female): MHNG 2236.16, ZMUC 34388-389, juv. ZMUC 34644. Au total six exemplaires récoltés par Arne Schiotz, 3.Dec.1958. 
Diagnosis 
CommentAbundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after the giant “Gigas” in Greek mythology, the child of Uranus and Gaea. The name is applied to taxa that are giants oftheir kind.
