CommentSynonymy: Placed into synonymy with Anilios australis by Waite (1918), resurrected by Rabosky et al. (2004). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin bicolor (two-coloured), from the distinctive dorsal colouration: ‘Oben braun mit violetem Schein...’ (= brown above with a tint of violet) (Peters 1860: 81).
