North Ecuador populations at south distribution look some different as at North in Colombia [Castro, F., pers. comm.]. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin vitta, band, ribbon; fillet and Latin gerus, bear, carry, wear. [“...A longitudinal light lateral band, bounded above and below bya brown one. A brown band from eye to axilla, one above it rising to the nape, one from superciliary region nearly joining one from the opposite side behind the occiput...”].
