TypesNeotype: MNHN 2426 (= holotype of Anolis copei Bocourt 1873)
CommentSynonymy partly after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970.
Many early records list this species as A. lemurinus (Villa et al. 1988). The holotype of Anolis copei is an Anolis biporcatus. KÖHLER & BAUER (2001) suggest to designate the holotype of Anolis copei as neotype for Norops biporcatus. The syntypes of Anolis Petersii are conspecific with the holotype of Anolis biporcatus (KÖHLER & BAUER 2001). See also Norops petersii. Not listed for El Salvador by KÖHLER (2000).

Relative abundance in Honduras: infrequent

Species group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012)
