Type locality: “Portillo Grande” (=El Portillo) and “Mataderos Mts.” (=Monte Mataderos), Departamento de Yoro, Honduras.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: Norops loveridgei may be distinguished from all species of Norops by the following combination of characters: giant size, adults to 118 mm SVL; frontal scales weakly keeled; 4-6 scales between supraorbital semicircles; 5–8 scales between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles; 9-12 horizontal loreal rows; anterior suboculars separated from supralabials; ear opening large. ca. 3 times size of interparietal; ventrals obtusely keeled; > 160 scales around midbody; no enlarged postanal scales in males; nuchal, dorsal, and caudal crests well-developed in males; tail laterally compressed in males; male dewlap large, extending past axillary area; male dewlap Spectrum Orange with Magenta streaks.
