Type species: Anoplohydrus aemulans WERNER 1909: 214 is the type species of the genus Anoplohydrus WERNER 1909. 
EtymologyThe species epithet, aemulans, comes from Latin aemulāns "emulating, copying". It is the present participle of aemulor "to equal someone by emulating." Its reference may be the "resembles more or less the various snakes of the Sunda Archipelago" according to Werner.
