| Diagnosis | Diagnosis (genus). A colubroid genus with diacranterian dentition, 13 15 maxillary teeth followed, after a diastema, by 3 4 enlarged, non-grooved teeth; absence of posterior hypapophyses; nasal shield divided with an interior flap or valve; eye of moderate size with round pupil; dorsal scales smooth, lacking apical pits, arranged long- itudinally in 19 rows at midbody, reducing to 15 posteriorly; cloacal shield divided. Diagnosis. The generic diagnosis identifies the species. Additional characters include: head feebly distinct from neck, body short, robust and cylindrical; rostral concave ventrally; internasals and prefrontals with rounded borders; frontal with nearly parallel lateral borders; 146 ventrals (Dowling method) and 46/45 paired subcaudals; 8 supralabials with 4th and 5th entering the orbit and seventh the largest; 1 preocular and 2 postoculars; temporals 1 2; 9 infralabials with first four contacting anterior genials and fifth the largest; tail short (17% total length). |
