CommentShaw’s description was based on a plate in Russell, Ind. Serp. (1796).

Synonymy: after Wallach 1988, Amphibia-Reptilia 9: 62.

Distribution: Seems to be very rare in Nepal (KRAMER 1977). Possibly in Bhutan (Lenz 2012).

Type species: Coluber fasciolatus SHAW 1802 is the type species of the genus Argyrogena WERNER 1924.
