Subspecies: TIEDEMANN & GRILLITSCH 1999 also list Pseudelaps muelleri var. concolor WERNER 1925 whose identity remains unclear.

Type species: Elaps muelleri SCHLEGEL 1837 is the type species of the genus Aspidomorphus FITZINGER 1843: 28.

Venomous! 
Etymologynamed after Salomon Müller (1804-1864), a naturalist and taxidermist who collected animals in Indonesia for Schlegel.
