Distribution	Mexico (Baja California, San José Island) Type locality: San José Island, Gulf of California, Baja California.
Reproduction	Oviparous.
Types	Neotype: CAS 52555, designated by Slevin and Leviton 1956 (Verticaria sericea); the holotype CAS 435 was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire.
Diagnosis
Comment	Belongs to the Aspidoscelis deppii group (fide REEDER et al. 2002).
Etymology	Named after May Danheim Burt, a fellow herpetologist of her husband, Dr. Charles Earle Burt (1904-1963), an Amerian herpetologist and business man.
