TypesType: BMNH 1946.1.12.27 (and possibly additional specimens). 
CommentTaxonomy: previously an “incertae sedis” taxon by placed in Natricidae by Pyron et al. 2013. 
EtymologyNamed after its distribution on Ceylon (= Sri Lanka).
