Type locality: “Taraira. Colombia, departamento del Vaupés. Región limítrofe entre Colombia y Brasil, en las márgenes del río del mismo nombre (00º 29’ 38” N 69º 40’ 11” E.)” Map legend:

TypesHolotype: ICN (= ICNMHN) = Instituto de Ciencias-Reptiles ICN 10095 (JSH-1162). Ejemplar macho, en buen estado de conservación. Capturado por un nativo de la región en 1989. 
Etymology“Dedicada a mi esposa Charito de Silva, en reconocimiento a su dedicación, paciencia y amor al compartir 40 años de investigación de la ofidiofauna en la Amazonia colombiana” ().
