Distribution	Myanmar (= Burma) (Irrawaddy and Salween river systems), China (Yunnan) ? Type locality: "Bengale" (in error).

Comment	Conservation: This is one of the most endangered turtle species according to a 2003 assessment by the IUCN. Synonymy: partly after RHODIN et al. 2010. Habitat: freshwater (Rivers and tributaries, estuaries) Distribution: see map in TTWG 2025.
Etymology	Probably named after Latin trivittatus, who bears three ribbons or bands, even though most specimens do not show obvious stripes.
