CommentConservation: This is one of the most endangered turtle species according to a 2003 assessment by the IUCN.

Synonymy: partly after RHODIN et al. 2010.

Habitat: freshwater (Rivers and tributaries, estuaries)

Distribution: see map in TTWG 2025. 
EtymologyProbably named after Latin trivittatus, who bears three ribbons or bands, even though most specimens do not show obvious stripes.
