Etymology | Named after the Sakalava, a traditional name for an indigenous group of people living in the western parts of Madagascar. The genus was apparently named after Greek blaisos = bandy-legged, blaisotes = crookedness, and Greek δακτυλος daktylos = "finger, toe. |
