TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA 1964.0011 (by original designation), collected in September 1963 by Alfred Stauch, hydrobiologist at ORSTOM research institue; paratypes: 27 specimens: MNHN-RA 1987.1754 (formerly ORSTOM 479, collecté le 5 janvier 1983 sur le centre ORSTOM de Pointe-Noire (04°46’36"S, 11°51’19"E ; altitude 13 m) par le premier auteur (Fig. 30) ; MNHN-RA 1987.1037, précédemment ORSTOM 86, collecté le 10 juin 1981 près de Dimonika (04°13’S, 12°26’E, altitude 360 m) par le premier auteur ; 25 spécimens de Pointe-Noire et ses environs collectés entre septembre 1963 et février 1964 par Alfred Stauch : MNHN-RA 1964.0009-0010, MNHN-RA 1964.0015, 0017, 0020-0029, 0031-0034, 0036, 0038, 0040-0041, 0109-0111 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Une espèce du complexe Boaedon fuliginosus / Boaedon lineatus caractérisée par la combinaison des caractères suivants : coloration dorsale après préservation brun-clair; présence constante d’une paire de lignes blanchâtres bien marquées de chaque côté de la tête; absence habituelle de lignes claires sur les flancs, celles-ci étroites, courtes et peu contrastées lorsqu’elles existent; présence de 25 à 31 rangs d’écailles dorsales (mâles : 25-29, femelles : 27-31); présence de 197 à 234 écailles ventrales (mâles: 197-211, femelles: 223-234) et de 52 à 71 écailles sous-caudales divisées (mâles: 61-71, femelles: 52-60).

EtymologyLe nom de cette espèce évoque l’étroite bande de savane bordant l’Océan Atlantique où cette espèce est distribuée au Congo, au Gabon et certainement aussi au Cabinda (Angola).
