Comment	RODRÍGUEZ-ROBLES & JESUS-ESCOBAR (1999) found that Bogertophis and Arizona are paraphyletic genera but recommend further studies to resolve their relationship. Similar species: B. subocularis,
Etymology	Named after the type locality.
