| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Boiga bourreti sp. n. lässt sich durch die folgende Merkmalskombination von allen anderen Vertretern der Gattung abgrenzen: (1) mittlere Größe (1155 mm GL), mit schlankem, seitlich zusammengepresstem Körper; (2) deutlich vom Hals abgesetzter Kopf; (3) deutlich vergrößerte Vertebralschuppenreihe; (4) Dorsalbeschuppung in 21:19:15 geneigten Reihen; (5) 236 Ventralia; (6) 106 geteilte Subcaudalia; (7) Analschild geteilt; (8) 8 Supralabialia (3.-5. in Augenkontakt); (9) 11/12 Infralabialia; (10) 1 großes Loreale; (11) 2/3 Präocularia, von denen das obere bis auf die Kopfoberseite reicht, jedoch nicht das Frontale berührt; (12) 2 Postocularia; (13) 3/4 vordere und 3/3 hintere Temporalia; (14) Mentale klein, dreieckig; (15) 2 Paar Submaxillaria, das vordere Paar sehr breit, jedoch nur wenig länger als das hintere, die Schuppen des hinteren Paares durch eingeschobene Gularschilder deutlich separiert; (16) Grundfärbung im Leben oberseits hell gräulich-bräunlich mit rotbrauner bis schwarzer Zeichnung; (17) Grundfärbung unterseits bis zum Anale hell mit dunkler Sprenklung, die Schwanzunterseite ist dichter dunkel gesprenkelt (und erscheint so deutlich dunkler); (18) schwarzbrauner, oben und unten hell gesäumter Postocularstreifen, der sich am Maul vorbei bis zum ebenfalls dunklen, sehr breiten Nackenband erstreckt; (19) auf das dunkle Nackenband folgen zwei V-förmige Bänder, an die sich ein aus hellen und dunklen Flecken bestehendes schachbrettartiges Muster anschließt; dieses Schachbrettmuster erstreckt sich bis zum Körperende und löst sich erst auf dem Schwanz auf. | Comment | Most similar to B. ocellata but differs in the presence of a neck band (not present in B. ocellata) scalation such as the number of dorsalia (bourreti: 19, ocellata: 21 or more). Characteristic features. The species is characterized by its dorsal scales in 21:19:15 bent rows, 236 ventrals, 106 divided subcaudals, and a divided anal scute; 8 supralabials (3-5 in contact with eye), and 11/12 infralabials; one large loreal, 2/3 preoculars, with uppermost reaching top of head, but not touching frontal, two postoculars, and 3/4 anterior temporals with 3/3 posterior ones following; a blackish brownish, light-margined postocular stripe runs past the corner of the mouth towards the wide dark neck band; the body pattern consists of the dark band on the neck, two subsequent V-shaped bands and a chequered pattern of light and dark fl ecks that extends along the body and only dissolves on the dorsal side of the tail (from ZIEGLER et al. 2006). |
